MUNICIPAL COURT MISSION

To provide equal justice for all, to protect the rights of the victim and defendant, and if the defendant is convicted, assess a penalty which will deter the defendant and others from similar conduct which acts to the ultimate welfare of the entire community and reflecting judicial administration at its best.

Overview

The Municipal Criminal Court of City of Cache is the judicial branch of city government and was created by state law and city ordinance as a court not of record (criminal not civil) to impartially hear violations of city ordinances. The court processes misdemeanor traffic and non-traffic offenses as well as parking violations. Charges can be filed by police officers, other city officials such as code enforcement, animal welfare, fire personnel, and citizens of the community. The maximum penalty in Municipal Court is $800, excluding costs I fees.

The Mayor and City Council appoint the presiding judge for two-year terms.

More citizens come in contact with the judicial system through municipal courts than any other court, and the personnel of the Municipal Court of City of Cache endeavor to present an image to the citizens of Cache, in substance as well as form, which are reflective of judicial administration at its best.

The court is committed to the proposition that its function is to see equal justice provided to all. Considering that, the court is dedicated to protecting the rights of the individual citizen accused of a violation, yet, upon conviction assessing a penalty which will deter the offender from similar conduct, therefore acting for the ultimate welfare of the entire community.

If you are pleading guilty or no contest, you will have the following options listed below. Failure to appear on or before the arraignment date will result in additional fines, fees, and a warrant. Proof of Insurance Citation

If your insurance was in effect at the time you received your ticket, simply show proof at the Court Clerk’s Office on or before the arraignment date and the ticket will be dismissed without cost, or have your insurance agent fax the insurance proof and citation number in effect at the time you received your ticket to (580) 429-3092 on or before the arraignment date and the ticket will be dismissed without cost.

If you obtained insurance after you received your ticket, you will be responsible for paying a reduced fine. Proof must be shown on or before the arraignment date.

Proof will be denied if it is not from the agent

Reducible Charges

If corrected and proof shown to the Court Clerk’s Office on or before the arraignment date for the following violations, your charge could be reduced with cost.

 

Charges that are reducible:

  • No driver’s license
  • Exhaust
  • Expired tags
  • Defective Vehicle
  • Window tint

 

Driver’s License not in Possession

If a driver’s license is shown before the arraignment date it will be dismissed no cost.
