Gateway to the Wichitas
Welcome to the official website for The City of Cache. Here you will find information on many programs and services, as well as subjects of interest to residents and visitors. We are here to offer assistance in making The City of Cache a great place to live, work and play.
Cache is located western Comanche County, on the southwest side of the Fort Sill Military Reservation and four miles west of the Lawton city limits. Cache is also located about four miles south of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The population was 2,796 at the 2010 Census.
Named for nearby West Cache Creek, the town originated following the 1901 land lottery, which opened the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache Reservation to general settlement. Divided into fifty-five blocks, the town plat was filed in August 1902, but not approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior. A second plat, with additional area for the mandatory city park, was finally approved at the end of December 1909.
